There’s no doubt that Facebook provides businesses with tremendous opportunities to connect with their current audiences and to tap into new audiences to expand their reach dramatically. I’ve shared a lot of ideas and strategies in this blog post series, so you’ve probably got plenty of ideas to run with, but do keep a few things in mind:
- Facebook can expand your reach, but you need to have a plan to grow your business with it. You can work toward bringing your Facebook audience to your website and getting them on your mailing list, so you can provide them with more commercial information. Or you can even sell right on Facebook using eCommerce tools.
– Incorporate Facebook into all aspects of your marketing. Whether it’s print media, your website or anywhere, people are familiar with and use Facebook readily, so give them the opportunity to connect with you there.
– As with all 3rd party sites, remember you don’t own Facebook. It’s important to grow your own website, mailing lists…and ultimately, your own customer lists. Facebook could be gone in a flash, they could cancel your account or any number of things, so be prepared with your own virtual real estate.
Once you have all that in mind, you’re ready to take on one of the most powerful marketing tools available to businesses today. Remember, it takes time to grow a Facebook following (but advertising your presence will make it go much faster), but keep working at it, so you can reap the rewards.
